"Relax And Destress"

For this project the goal was to present ten tips to the viewer on a topic in which I have a lot of expertise. I choose to give advice on ways to relax and distress. For this topic I wanted my interface to be soothing to look at to help go along with my theme. To start with I took a picture of my friend meditating and vectorized it in Illustrator. For my buttons I made orange candles. I specifically made them orange because I felt the orange glow was most appealing on the dark blue background that would serve as a night sky. I darkened all the colors of every other object except the candles to really push contrast. I wanted the candles to seem like they were actually glowing. The cloud in which the tips appear in is purposely simple in design. I toned down the alpha to about fifty percent so one might assume it to be a cloud or a thought bubble of the figure meditating. Originally I was going to have the candles spread out in multiple areas in the grass, but then I arranged them in a circle around the figure to add emphasis to her and to help move the viewer’s eye around the composition. The first thing they read is the word “Relax,” and then the eyes moves down the figure, around the line of candles, and ends at the word “Destress.” The font that I used is called AlphaClouds and I picked it because the cloud-like letters work perfectly with relaxing theme. Finally, as a last-minute addition I put stars in the sky background, again to add a sense of tranquility and to help move the viewer’s eye around the piece.
